Three Petitions

We’ve been busy over the summer months gathering petitions, including:

  • Asking the Council to follow others in refusing to implement the bedroom tax
  • Opposing the closure of the Cambridge Mail Centre
  • Cambridgeshire Keep Our NHS Public‘s petition against the proposed privatisation of Cambridgeshire Community Services (Word version here). There’ll be a KONP meeting on this topic on Wednesday August 14th, 7.30 pm at the Friends Meeting House, Jesus Lane, Cambridge.

Cambridge Bedroom Tax Protest

On Saturday 16 March, 1pm outside Guildhall, Market Square, there will be a demonstration in opposition to the Government’s planned ‘bedroom tax’, due to come into effect on April 1st. This selectively-applied benefit cut will in particular affect disabled people, foster parents, single parents and families with a recently bereaved member, and may force people to move to less appropriate and more expensive housing.
